MEET YOUR TEACHER
Jed Dorsey is a fourth generation artist and grew up on Camano Island, WA. The youngest of three kids, Jed was surrounded by art as a child. His dad is a professional artist who is well known for his work in watercolor, and his mom is the third generation in a family of artists. Therefore drawing and painting were part of everyday life just like beachcombing and playing in the woods near his country home.

Module 2: Thumbnail Sketches - Your Roadmap to Success
Thumbnail sketches serve as a road map for your painting. In these lessons, you will learn how to use this simple tool to save yourself hours of time and energy later in the painting process. Would you travel somewhere you've never been without a map? Never!
Module 3: The Importance of Values
Understanding the importance of values is absolutely key to creating beautiful paintings. In these lessons, you will learn how to observe values in real life and then how to paint values correctly. This lesson is critical for your growth as an artist, and practical exercises will help you apply your knowledge.
Module 4: Introduction to Color
With these clearly explained lessons, you will begin grasping ideas that often can be confusing or overwhelming. You will learn about opaque and transparent colors, essential color mixing and color as value. These concepts will be absolutely vital for your growth and confidence.
Module 5: Mini Practice Paintings
"Paint small, paint often." These are helpful words, and in these lessons, you will get to put them into practice. This is an opportunity to work through the process you've learned and create three beautiful, smaller paintings before you paint on the next size of canvas. Paint a mountain hideaway, a bouquet of roses, and a cozy cabin scene.
Module 6: Full-Size Practice Paintings
Here you will be painting three gorgeous scenes on slightly larger canvases, and they are three of Jed's favorite places: the crossing onto his island at sunset, one of his favorite local beaches and a forest from his childhood! He shares stories from his life and encouragement along the way.
